The Mission in Citrus is dedicated to helping Veterans , men ,women, and children off the streets and out of the woods, into a productive environment where they can change their circumstances and once again become productive members of society. The Mission is operated by the homeless for the homeless with no paid staff since 2008. We rely solely on donations from those with caring hearts. Our shelters are open at anytime for visitors, and we are dedicated to transparency as any non profit should. We help Veterans from around the US , as many wish to relocate to Florida. Our Veteran's shelter is available to all honorably discharged or active Veterans. Our Veteran's shelter needs a sprinkler system immediately or we face closure, with no where for them to go. Current estimates are from $ 9000 to $ 10,899. Our budget is very small, but helps many. Our operation was started with three dollars and many prayers.From 60 tents to five shelters within two years. Seventy five beds were created in less than 15 months. Our nightly average is 90. Our goal for 2013 - 2014 is to add a larger family shelter and 100 beds for Veterans. The three year plan is to help reduce homelessness in In 2013, we : Provided 27,500 bed nights for those needing help Served over 75,000 meals Provided thousands with needed services from food to bus tickets Participated in several arrests concerning the criminal homeless Handed out over $ 200,000 worth of free items from cribs to cars Buried two of our own And much more
