The Mission Massimo Foundation is a non-profit organisation that promotes the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of childhood leukodystrophies. These are a group of life-threatening genetic conditions that affect the formation of myelin, a complex fatty substance that acts as an insulator, around nerve fibres in the brain much like electrical wiring. Our aim is to accelerate the discovery of genetic variations responsible for childhood leukodystrophies and to translate these into clinical trials and treatments.
