Health, Wellness & Fitness - San Rafael, California, United States
I'm a 3rd Gen S.F. er, mother of 4 mini grown-ups. I started my own swimming program after working in the non-profit for most of my life. Living in California my whole life except for a short time on the Big Island of Hawaii. I graduated from Lincoln H.S., S.F. in 87, From S.F. State in 1994. I swam for each team for two years. I got a degree in Psychology and a minor in Rec management. I continued to work for the San Francisco JCC till they closed in 1994 working in the Fitness and Aquatic Departs. I enjoyed being part of the community, families, and seniors. Those years shaped my vision of my future. I was able to ask a lot of questions to people whom I would never have the opportunity to converse with. I was able to see growth in people of all ages and religions. I saw people who swam every day, families that came to lessons for years. Those relationships become strong over time if you're open to talking. I babysat for my younger students because of the bond of trust with the whole family. Fast track 30 years I'm working at the Marin JCC in 2012 most of my kids in high school, 2 @ S.R.H.S., 1 @ Archbishop Riordan H.S. in S.F. and my oldest from G.W.H.S. Has they left the nest I began to visualize pass the JCC. I had wonderful mentors all around me, instructors that used to run a swim program out of their homes. So started MissJeanSwimming, Northbridge Recreation Center President was a friend and fellow swimmer said she would love to have me at their homeowner Association pool. I had been writing in my journal about starting my own swim school just needed a pool, I wrote over and over. Then my vision came true. The bonus of teaching and being the scheduler was amazing. One of my biggest challenges of working for others, they are in charge of whom I teach when teach. Now if my students are sick or "life happens" they text me, we reschedule and I know what's going on with the students when they do show up for a lesson. It's ok to cry in my lessons, take your minute.
