The Center for Microbiome Informatics and Therapeutics at MIT brings together biologists, engineers, and physicians to better understand the role of the microbiome in a spectrum of inflammatory and infectious diseases. Through collaboration between multiple disciplines in science and medicine, we ultimately hope to develop better treatment options for patients with microbiome-associated conditions (such as inflammatory bowel diseases, diabetes, neurodegenerative conditions, and autism).CMIT works towards this mission by funding innovative translational research, providing concurrent microbiome analysis alongside clinical trials, and educating the academic and medical community about the microbiome and its role in future therapeutics.
