Automotive - Chester, England, United Kingdom
Mazda, Skoda and Lexus new and used car retailers. Now with our own used car brand Mitchell Select. The potted history is a simple one. With £100 share capital and a £10,000 overdraft, the company opened for business in February 1990 at Elf Oil's newest state of the art service station in Warrington. Mark Mitchell and founder employee (now Group Director) Neil Crowden developed three further locations in three years, purchasing the company's first freehold service station in Neston in 1993. A keen interest in four wheel drive vehicles led to the clear focus on specialist vehicles in the mid 1990s. Personal recommendation and a sharp attention to detail fuelled considerable growth for the business, resulting in national recognition and appointment to the Mitsubishi franchise in 1997. A desire to acquire a premium brand prompted timely discussions with Lexus GB who made a swift appointment for the Chester and North Wales market. In February 2001, we opened the UK's biggest facility on our newly acquired four and a half acre development at Cheshire Oaks. Skoda joined the company's portfolio at the West Kirby dealership in September 2001 and provided a unique opportunity to capitalise on the brands's transformation under Volkswagen's ownership. Mazda became Mitchell Group's latest acquisition and now shares with our Skoda franchise an industry leading facility adjacent to our Lexus centre. This new facility at Cheshire Oaks comprises of a 16 car showroom and a 20 bay after sales areas. The dealerships are truly 21st Century, providing very special facilities for both staff and customers with ‘BA style' First Class lounge incorporating plasma screens, an internet café and a complimentary refreshment area. What is important is that, as a locally owned company, the directors and senior managers are available to meet with our customers and address issues. I am confident that we can continue to do this.Mark Mitchell
