Mitra invents and produces top of the line filmmaking equipment for professional, indie and amateur filmmakers. It was founded on January 2011 by Soumya Mitra, a Silicon Valley computer technology veteran and an avid photographer and filmmaker. Soumya was searching for a professional quality immersive sound microphone which is affordable, portable and rugged for professional field use. Unfortunately there was no such microphone available in the market, so he decided to build one. After working several months at his garage workshop, Soumya had designed a prototype and the test results were simply amazing. Encouraged by the feedback from professional sound engineers and filmmakers, he had decided to found Mitra and debut the microphone as 3D Mic Pro. Within a year of its debut, 3D Mic Pro has won the heart of filmmaking community as for the first time 3D Mic has brought the power of Hollywood quality surround sound within the budget of all film makers and YouTube video makers. 3D Mic makes the complex art of surround recording as easy as plug and play by using any camera or audio recorder.
