We are a team of young urban farmers, motivated to grow a greener future! Based in Nairobi (Kenya), we encourage the community to engage in organic urban agriculture, with the goal to improve the access to healthy and fresh food in urban areas, while respecting the environment and creating job opportunities.Our Mission• To transmit our knowledge within organic urban agriculture to the next generation.• To improve access to organic food in urban areas.• To secure food and healthy nutrition, while preserving the environment.• To provide job opportunities for youth and minorities, as well as more inclusion in the cities.Our Vision• A generation of new farmers.• Greener Kenyan cities.• A healthier urban population.• A socio-economical boost.What do we do?•We manage a School Garden Programme, launched in 2016, at Nairobi River Primary School. •We manage a demonstration farm, where we provide training in organic urban farming to both the pupils and the educational staff. •We also run an Agribusiness Club for the pupils, who wants to further get involved in organic urban farming.•We make our own organic fertilisers and pesticides and results are positive and encouraging. •We produce organic seeds/seedlings.•We offer consultancy on urban organic farming and organise tours in other East-African organic farms.Further Objectives:• To build a larger Communal Organic Garden Programme in Nairobi.• To provide the members of the Programme with grounds, seedlings and seeds, organic gears, tools, human resources, consultancy and organic urban farming training (i.e. permaculture).• To create a greater platform for young urban agripreneurs for research and innovation in Kenya.• To heal as many unused plots from pollution with organic urban faming methods.• To sensitize the community to environmental and urbanisation issues.• To boost the economy while improving local businesses.• To work toward more inclusion in the cities.
