MNP Petroleum Corp. (TSXV:MNP / OTCCB:MNAP) is a petroleum exploration company, that has begun the process of transforming itself into a petroleum exploration and production company.MNP has recently refocused itself on Central Asia, especially on the Fergana Basin, which extends over Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. According to USGS and the EIA reports, the resource potential of the Fergana Basin has 4 billion barrels of recoverable oil, of which 75% is undiscovered.MNP owns 90% of a Tajik company that owns a 100% interest in two petroleum exploration licenses in the center of the Fergana Basin in Tajikistan close to large oilfields (e.g. Mingbulak, 250 MMBOE, Uzbekistan) and having significant resource potential.Furthermore, MNP is in the process of acquiring 65% of the equity in a company that owns a majority stake in oilfields in the Fergana Basin of Tajikistan with 1P reserves of 20 MMBO, which MNP believes has significant potential for rehabilitation, redevelopment and exploration.MNP owns 74% of a company that owns a 100% interest in two petroleum exploration licenses in Mongolia. MNP's affiliate which drilled 2 wells in 2012, was named "Best Operator in 2012" by the Government of Mongolia.In addition, MNP owns 1.2% of the equity in Petromanas Energy Inc. (TSXV:PMI). Petromanas Energy owns petroleum exploration licenses covering approximately 1,679 square kilometres in Albania, France and Australia.MNP draws on personnel with experience in production of mature oil fields as well as in challenging exploration.
