The Metropolitan Orlando Chapter (MOC) of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) was chartered in November 1983 and serves the Greater Orlando area. Currently, there are more than 200 members; approximately 45% are AACN certified with a CCRN, PCCN, or multiple nationally recognized certifications. Chapter membership is open to all members of national AACN. Annual membership dues for the Metropolitan Orlando Chapter are $25.00. Board meetings, general membership meetings/educational programs are held VIRTUALLY the second Tuesday of every month September to June. The chapter belongs to AACN's Region 7, which includes the state of FL. Chapter accomplishments include but are not limited to: monthly educational offerings with CNEs and/or CERPs, sponsoring a 2-day CCRN/PCCN Review course, certification recognition event, educational scholarships, research grant, participation in AACN chapter excellence awards, and community outreach by supporting various local, national, and international organizations.Building on decades of clinical excellence, the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses provides and inspires leadership to establish work and care environments that are respectful, healing, and humane. The key to AACN's success is through its members. Therefore, AACN is committed to providing the highest quality resources to maximize nurses' contribution to caring and improving the healthcare of critically ill patients and their families.The MOC embraces AACN's Mission, Vision, and Values and is committed to promoting educational development and a communication network for critical care and acute care nurses in our geographic area.Also, the MOC is committed to creating an environment that supports and assists the critical care nurse and the acute care nurse in meeting patient and family needs within a changing healthcare delivery system. In doing so, the MOC adopts the AACN Standards for Establishing and Sustaining Healthy Work Environments.
