مؤسسه آموزش عالی غیر انتفاعی غیر دولتی مولانا در سال ۱۳۸۳ با اخذ مجوز از وزارت علوم، تحقیقات و فناوری با هدف تربیت و تامین بخشی از نیروی متخصص مورد نیاز کشور در سطوح بالای علمی، اولین مؤسسه غیر انتفاعی بود که کار خود را در شهرستان آبیک آغاز نمود. این دانشگاه در مقایسه با بسیاری از دانشگاه های منطقه، استان و کشور، دانشگاهی جوان و درحال رشد است. هم اکنون ۳۷ رشته مقطع تحصیلی گوناگون در سه دانشکده ادبیات و علوم انسانی، دانشکده مدیریت، حسابداری و روانشناسی و دانشکده فنی مهندسی و هنر دایر می باشد. از افتخارات این دانشگاه می توان به قبولی بالغ بر ۷۰% فارغ التحصیلان مقطع کارشناسی در آزمون تحصلات تکمیلی سال گذشته در دانشگاه های برتر کشور اشاره کرد.
