The Molecular Biology and Immunology Students Association (MIMSA) founded in 2017, aims to foster student involvement beyond the classroom, and connect UTSC students with peers and faculty both at UTSC and UTSG (University of Toronto St George). Our goal is to provide keen and curious minds a platform to engage in scientific discussions while also building upon skills on how to effectively read scientific discourse, extrapolate and translate key information, make scientific concepts relevant to life beyond in-class learning, and effectively communicate scientific knowledge to others.Through MIMSA, we hope students will build their professional and personal development by engaging in undergraduate research seminars, faculty keynote lectures, educational events and more. We want to engage students in open discussions regarding topics in molecular biology and immunology. While our main focus will be to provide students the skills and opportunities to utilize them with respect to scientific research and analysis, there will also be some focus on sharing upcoming opportunities with students (e.g. conferences, seminars, scholarships, research positions).
