Monica Sordo was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela where she spent her childhood alongside her father in his industrial design workshop. He played a fundamental role as a constant mentor and guide, and continues to influence her work by advising her in the manufacturing process.Carried throughout each collection is an architectural presence from Monica's travels, drawing from Art Deco detailing and iconic buildings she has fallen in love with.Inspired by the history and symbolism of different places and eras, her pieces exude sophistication with an innovative approach to fashion. Emphasizing the Pre-Columbian ArtDeco style she has created, Monica pushes the design boundaries through the arrangement of dynamic angles and deep dimension through uniquely transformable pieces. It is this vision that redefines her jewelry and the meaning and purpose behind it.The Monica Sordo Collection finds great pride in working alongside local craftsmen in Lima, Peru where each collection is handmade. All of her pieces are made in brass and finished in 24kt gold and natural stones and each piece upholds Monica's high standards for design and manufacturing.Monica is also deeply rooted in the Latin design community and has become an accomplished jeweler in her own right, gaining international recognition through her work as curator for the Mario Testino Museum store (Bodega MATE) in Lima, Peru. She is a CFDA member and has received accolades in all the top fashion books including the Vogue IT "Talents Issue", as well as Vogue LAT, Vogue U.S., W Magazine, Harper's Bazaar, and WWD. Her collections are carried by international luxury retailers such as Net- A- Porter, Moda Operandi, Barneys NY, Forty Five Ten, and Nordstrom. She is also deeply rooted in the Latin design community and has been tapped for a number of distinguished projects including the curation of designers at the Bodega MATE | Mario Testino .
