Monks of Funk Details
Monks of Funk are a professional funk and fusion band in the Orange County, California area. Formed by six students at University High School, the band expanded its membership to all high schools in Irvine as outgoing members graduated. Notably, they have performed multiple headlining nights at the Irvine Spectrum Center, numerous fundraisers for charitable organizations, private constituent events for local Congressional candidate campaigns, and a plethora of restaurants and bars in Orange County. In 2018, they won the Irvine Battle of the Bands, and as a result, recorded their first EP, "Unlive," at Hybrid Studios in Santa Ana, which was published in August 2018. Subsequently, they recorded two more EPs independently: "The Red Album" and "One Last Ride." Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the band has gone into a hiatus, but continues to remain in contact with each other.
