MAFA is a community-oriented, all-volunteer organziation founded in 1965 that is dedicated to this mission: Enhance the lives of those within our community through interaction with the arts. Increase the opportunities of our children through art education. Our commitment to the community is to organize opportunities for interaction with the arts and fundraising for children's art programs: • Local artists' shows in local galleries • Summer Art Walks last Saturday of June, July, August on Myrtle Ave. in Old Town • Spring fundraiser, "Acknowledge the Arts" • October 2-day art show "Celebrate the Arts" in Monrovia Library Park Since 2004, MAFA has contributed more than $50,000 to the students of Monrovia for art education. In addition: • Our members developed an after school art curriculum for use by the MUSD Village After School Program today. • MAFA participated in the Foothill Unity Center's "Back to School" event bringing art to hundreds of underprivileged children. • We provided art classes for the Santa Anita YMCA and Boys & Girls Club, and funded an in-school art teacher at Wildrose Elementary.
