Performing Arts - Santa Barbara, California, United States
Montecito Jazz Project is a collective of many fine musicians who play American and Latin jazz written and performed by great artists like Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Antonio Carlos Jobim. We also perform dance music for a wide range of styles - swing, classic rock, salsa - for many weddings, Nite Moves running, swimming and Wet Wednesday sailing competition four to six times every summer; as well as the local French Festival, Mesa Festival and various Santa Barbara restaurants like Brasil Arts Cafe. Montecito Jazz Project began as a collaboration between Drummer Tom Ray and Bass Player Tom Towle in 2005. Alto saxophonist Jeff Regan joined in and added blistering solos and Guitarist Mark Coffin showed up and brought his own guitar stylings, providing perfect complementary accompaniment and tasty soloing. Alto sax player George DeFilippo and tenor sax player Mark Huston have at times accompanied the rhythm section of bassist Tom Towle, guitarist Mark Coffin, pianist Mike Conaway, trumpeteer Lee Neuenschwander and various drummers including Matt Perko, Bones Howe, Glenn Cantello, Roy Gilman and regular drummers Tom Ray and Denise Alpine.
