The Porter Fire Department was first established in 1962 as a volunteer fire department which has continued to grow serving the residents of East Montgomery County. In 1988, the Montgomery County Emergency Services District #6 was established and is governed by the Commissioners Court. We are responsible for both fire suppression and EMS – first responder services to the community. MCESD#6 receives its funding at the rate of .10 cents for every 100.00 dollars of property valve as regulated by the Texas Constitution, and a half-cent sales tax on applicable sales transactions in the district. The fire district has 4 stations; two of the stations have a combination of both paid staff and volunteer members along with ladies auxiliary, and 15 apparatus units. The Porter Fire Department promotes the economic well being and safety of life in our community
