Montgomery Education Foundation (MEF) was founded in 2000 as a program of the Central Alabama Community Foundation and the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce Committee of 100. Community leaders recognized the importance of supporting the public school system as an investment in our children, our community, and our future. Since its founding, the foundation has focused its efforts on supporting the Alabama Reading Initiative, providing professional development for school administration and staff, the promotion of student achievement, the encouragement of public engagement, and the development of school readiness (Pre-K programs).MISSIONMontgomery Education Foundation advocates for community involvement from every segment of the public. We believe in accountability and achievement of high standards and work for significant improvement in the quality of public education.
