In 2014, musician Mark Lohmann released his homemade debut album under the name Moon Moon Moon. As his interests extended from music into video games, he decided to build a demo of a game in 2017 and post it on YouTube: a video called "Dynamic Lights (using Unity 2D)." This attracted the attention of programmer Martín Isla and composer Mark Benis and soon enough, an independent video game studio was born. Using Mark's Dynamic Lights demo and visual/musical style as a foundation for their upcoming game The Worst Grim Reaper, the three developers adopted Mark L.'s band name to represent the quirky, story-driven nature of their video game work. By pure coincidence all three developers' names start with the letter "M," each an irreplaceable third of Moon Moon Moon.
