The Morphology and Uses of Architecture Research Group - MUsA - contributes to the knowledge of the fundamentals of architecture and urbanism, and in particular for the study of relationships between theory and built form, and between built form and cultural practices. In the practical studies carried out have contributed to increasing knowledge about the formation and transformation of cities and buildings, especially in Northeast Brazil, as well as for understanding the paradigms underlying these processes. It also provides resources and tools for the evaluation of interventions in the built environment and the decision-making in urban and architectural projects. Recent examples include: studies of the effects of expansion and transformation in the road structure on the built environment of cities, through processes of modeling and parsing of space, including the use of GIS tools, examining parallels between morphological changes in housing and the emergence of new compositions / domestic habits, the study of evolutionary theory landscape architecture in Brazil, the construction of databases on morphological features that are thought important for the sustainable development of city centers, the formatting of new tools and procedures modeling of the built environment.
