MVR's mission is to help sports organizations identify seemly intangible athlete qualities that are mathematically related to success in sports. For each customer, we focus on building and deploying a customized predictive model (PM) of sports behavior. This is accomplished through the use of quantitative psychology and supervised machine learning. In a typical engagement with a customer (e.g., an amateur club team, athletic department, or pro sports team), MVR seeks to understand first the key performance indicators in winning games in the target sport. In most sports, the primary performance indicator is usually the number of points scored. Secondary indicators may be various statistics on offense and defense. Next, MVR establishes theoretical links among various aspects of human cognition (how an athlete thinks), affect (how an athlete feels), and behavior (what an athlete does) in a particular sport. Third, objectively measured sports behaviors (e.g., touchdowns, 3-pt shots, or home runs) are collected and used as targets in PMs. Because MVR has a very strong basis in psychology, we measure hidden and seemly intangible qualities (e.g., court vision, football smarts, baseball IQ and high motor qualities) that lead to success in games. This is a key differentiator and source of competitive advantage.
