New Robata Grill Bar MOSU is Set to Ignite the Restaurant Scene in 2020 MOSU is a modern contemporary restaurant and late-night lounge that will focus on bringing the authentic taste of Japan to the North of England. Meaning to 'ignite flame', MOSU takes its inspiration from the long-established Izayaka alley bars and restaurants which line the foggy backstreets of Japan's major cities. This is the place where friends and colleagues meet to enjoy fantastic food and drink paired with a vibrant atmosphere for a quick-but-delicious break from their busy lives. MOSU will modernise the traditional Izakaya concept. After searching Manchester to find the perfect 'backstreet alley', MOSU has found its home in the Barton Arcade Deansgate at the site of the former Circle Club. The project costing £2 million will transform the site into an unrecognisable place complete with a 70-cover dedicated restaurant boasting an open kitchen, robata grill and sushi counter to name just a few spectacular elements to the space. There will also be a bar area and separate lounge which will remain open into the small hours. You can expect MOSU to operate from Thursday to Sunday open from 4 pm (midday weekends) until 4 am with the last table in the restaurant section at midnight. This is an operating period offering something a little different to the Manchester market while reflecting the feeling of Tokyo after dark. As for the food, we can look forward to all your favourite Japanese delights made from ingredients with real provenance. The menu focuses on traditional Japanese elements fused with an elegant twist where refinement rules over invention. MOSU will house the impressive Robata grill using Japanese binchotan coal to serve expertly grilled meats, fish and vegetables. Sushi will also take centre stage on the menu by using the best of the British seafood coupled with some daily imports direct from the Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo.
