MAW was developed in honor of such women like Louise Edwards of Cincinnati, Ohio. Louise, a strong woman of faith, faced unusual circumstances when her husband passed away unexpectedly. At the young age of 33, she was left to raise 8 children on her own by staying focused on God, hard work, and with the help of a few loving friends. After successfully seeing her children off to adulthood, and on her way to retirement to spend time with her grandchildren, again the unexpected struck...... Louise was now faced with a decision to raise another family of 8 children. Unfortunately, the parents of those children abandoned them. Without hesitation, she decided to take on this monumental task. To deal with these circumstances once is almost impossible, twice could only be from help above. When women face these type of situations they, in many cases, have to settle for less in regards to relationships, their health, education, finances and many other unfortunate ways. Children can suffer educationally, as well as not being afforded the same opportunities that their peers may have. Mothers Abandoned or Widowed will try to assist those mothers that unexpectedly are caught up in these circumstances and continue to stride for the betterment of themselves and their children._______________________________________________Our Vision is to have communities where abandoned and widowed mothers can live with dignity and respect through turbulent timesOur Mission is to assist those mothers who have been abandoned by their husbands or; whose husbands have died prematurely. Assisting them with childcare, transportation and, continuing education. Our Values: We acknowledge and value the dignity of all individuals.
