Motiv is a technology company that has pioneered a novel intelligent assist approach for wheeled devices that enables people to easily control large loads through a natural, intuitive interface. Motiv was spun off from DeltaGlide, Inc. following its purchase by Johnson & Johnson in 2002. DeltaGlide developed and patented a revolutionary intelligent assist wheelchair (iGlide) incorporating instrumented user interfaces and computer controlled closed loop drive systems. The patented approach allows wheelchair users to negotiate changing surfaces and difficult terrain with the same effort, control, and safety as if they were on a smooth level surface. Under the terms of the DeltaGlide purchase, Motiv retains exclusive, perpetual, worldwide rights to the patented technology for all non-medical applications. Since 2002, Motiv has focused on intelligent drives for wheeled vehicles that enable people to control very large loads through a natural, intuitive interface.
