Motown Aquaponics was formed by three friends with the intention of producing sustainable fresh produce and seafood for the citizens of Detroit at an affordable price. Furthermore, Motown Aquaponics seeks to engage the community of Detroit through educational outreach and public installations.The most important goal of this company is to change the way people think about food and how it is produced. As the city of Detroit grows and re-builds we feel that the production of food should have a place in the new vision of what a modern urban city could be. The aquaponic farming method is the most sustainable form of agriculture available. By utilizing this efficient system in which plants and fish work together to produce food, less water is wasted and crops can be grown virtually anywhere and at any time of year.
