Friends of Galapagos New Zealand (FOGNZ) is part of a worldwide network of similar organisations, all established to support the cause of conservation in Galapagos. The two largest organisations are Galapagos Conservancy in the US and the Galapagos Conservation Trust in UK, there are also groups in Switzerland, the Netherlands, Canada and Japan. The members of the Friends of Galapagos Organisations (FOGO) network have two main purposes, first to raise awareness and be a source of information and publicity for the conservation of the Galapagos, and secondly to raise funds for specific scientific research or conservation projects in Galapagos.Members of FOGNZ are for the most part New Zealanders who have travelled to Galapagos and are interested in supporting ongoing conservation efforts in the archipelago. FOGNZ works with the Galapagos National Park, the Charles Darwin Foundation and other NGOs located in Galapgos supporting scientific research in the islands,
