The Dentistry department has a long and respected history, having been founded in the 1950's as a volunteer clinic. Today we are committed to delivering the highest quality evidence-based oral health care for patients who require treatment in a hospital environment. Our patient-centred approach focuses on disease prevention and management. As a tertiary/quaternary referral centre, our team treats rare oral conditions, difficult-to-treat or difficult-to-diagnose conditions.The Dentistry department is a fully accredited and is affiliated with the University of Toronto. As an academic centre, clinicians conduct important research, which shapes the care delivered to patients. The department has trained hundreds of students including undergraduate dental students, graduate specialty residents as well as hospital dental residents.
