The Mountain Rivers Institute aims to empower communities in mountain watersheds through research and education related to conservation, restoration, and climate change adaptation. Mountain Rivers Institute aims to work closely with people who know mountain watersheds best – the local communities – to help identify and implement solutions to challenges that threaten their livelihoods and the health of their local watersheds. \\Watersheds matter to all of us, as providers of natural resources and ecosystem goods and services, barometers of climate change, and places of beauty and inspiration. The Mountain Rivers Institute aims to facilitate processes that promote education and capacity building, to enable communities to take responsibility for the well-being of their local watershed environments upon which life depends.\\Goals\• Provide support for knowledge sharing in ecologically sensitive watersheds\• Facilitate collaboration on balancing economic need with watershed health\• Supply resources for ecosystem restoration and climate change adaptation \• Mobilize stakeholders to promote awareness among future generations
