As the name suggests, we are a creative, lively spoken word performance group. We have approximately 50 members aged between 15 and 30, and run writing workshops every Friday where people are encouraged to write and perform their own poetry. Not only do Mouthy concentrate on the writing of poetry, we also have a focus on the introduction of event coordination and creative development. In residence at Nottingham Playhouse, Mouthy create energising first-class shows and education programs in theatres, festivals, schools and universities. Our poetry often collaborates with all types of entertainment; music, visual art, film and dance to name a few. Founded by Deborah Stevenson in 2011, the company encourages the empowerment of young people to write, speak, perform and work hard.
