M.S. Wordsmith. Writing mentor & editor - mentors the process, edits the work M.S. Wordsmith is an editor with an academic and creative background: she edits academic work as well as short stories and novels. She also mentors creative writers who find themselves less productive than they would like or stuck. Language intrigued M.S. Wordsmith from a young age onwards. As a little girl, she was always writing or reading—always wanting to borrow more book than the library allowed—and carried around a heavy dictionary to translate English songs she heard on the radio into Dutch. She took her love for language with her to secondary school, where she excelled in the English language. It brought her to the University of Utrecht, where she studied English Language and Culture from 2004 to 2008. It didn't take long for her talent to be noticed and teachers began to compliment her on her lucid and convincing style of writing. During her Research Masters in Gender and Ethnicity, in which she focused on women's writing, and her Ph.D. in that same field, the quality and clarity of her academic work was emphasised again and again by teachers, professors, and anonymous peer-reviewers from academic journals. As a teacher within the same faculty, she's been praised for the practical writing advice she offers to Bachelor and Master students. In the past two years, she has rekindled her passion for creative writing and has started to mentor creative other writers whilst critiquing their work.
