The mission of the MSU Department of Animal and Range Sciences is to evaluate and communicate science-based knowledge to enhance the management of Montana's livestock and rangeland resources in ways that are economically, socially and ecologically sustainable.Our undergraduate academic programs include bachelor of science degrees in Animal Science, Natural Resources and Rangeland Ecology, and Ranching Systems. Our graduate degree offerings include a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy in Animal and Range Sciences.Research in our department spans the nutrition, genetics, reproduction and microbiology of animal agriculture, and the management of rangeland habitat for livestock production with wildlife habitat. Our Extension specialists and associates are dedicated to improving and supporting Montana's agricultural industry and the lives of people in our communities. Specialists can assist with Agro-Security and Agro-Emergency Preparedness, Beef Cattle, Forage, Livestock Environment and Sustainability, Pesticide Education, Range, Sheep, and Wildlife.
