( Not applicable for condos and townhouses) The general home inspection is designed to identify defects within specific systems and components defined by the above standards that are both observed and deemed material by the inspector. It focuses on the performance of the home, rather than cosmetic, code or design issues. Inspections are often performed during a real estate transaction but may be done anytime. The general home inspection is based on the observations made on the date of the inspection, and not a prediction of future conditions.
