Muhit, mahallelilerin ve yerel yönetimlerin yaşadıkları yerleri iyileştirmek için iletişim kurmasını ve çözüm üretmesini sağlayan bir platformdur.\\----\\Muhit" is a crowdsourcing platform that allows citizens, local representatives and municipalities to collaboratively improve their living environment. The platform digitalizes Turkey's muhtar system of local representatives to allow for collaboration with citizens in city-making and building more connected communities. Muhit provides a platform for people to submit their ideas for improvements and suggestions about the built environment in their neighborhoods, and organize around issue-specific demands. The muhtar or local representative is able to see all the ideas circulating in his or her neighborhood and can take various actions, such as solving it independently with the community or communicating it to the municipality to resolve an issue. Our team won the 'Things Challenge,' organized by Community Volunteers Foundation, a major NGO in Turkey, and have partnered with district municipalities in Istanbul to pilot the project in Spring-Summer 2016.\\Impact\Make the political process more inclusive by facilitating dialogue between local representatives and citizens, strengthen local efforts to build better cities\\Who We Are\\Sera Tolgay is graduate student at MIT in urban planning, passionate about participatory planning and human-centered urban design.
