Founded in 2017, Mukkle Thrift provides a sustainable shopping experience to Jamaicans, through thrifting. By hosting semi-annual pop-up thrift shops, based on the donations of patrons, funds are raised for a wide array of causes across the island. Mukkle Thrift has donated physical and monetary donations to charitable organizations in Jamaica supporting the environmental, educational and general well-being of its nation and citizens.Mukkle Thrift's name is derived from the well-known Jamaican saying 'Every Mikkle Mek a Mukkle'. This means that any small action contributes towards a greater cause. While a single donation or purchase made at Mukkle Thrift may seem menial, it has allowed those in need to be provided with necessary resources, while also benefiting the environment by extending the lifespan of clothing. Additionally, it has generated conversations about sustainable living and positively impacted societal discourses surrounding thrifting.
