Mukti for Social Development (MSD) is a California based non profit public corporation formed in 2008 to foster self-reliant and thriving communities amongst low-income and under-privileged in developing and under developed nations especially India. Beginning with a small but very dedicated group of volunteers, Mukti for Social Development came to be the common social platform with the sole purpose of transforming its members' dreams into reality. MSD came into existence to promote and sponsor activities to improve education, heighten social and environmental awareness and foster community development in order to nurture an environment where every individual in the society can achieve their full potential.The idea of the present non profit social organization was conceived when a group of liked minded people from all over US, with a vision of a world free of hunger, poverty, illiteracy, met through social networking. The group started having active discussions through regular meetings and soon enough the idea of forming a non profit organization was born. Accordingly, a committee was formed to explore the idea and write the Articles of Incorporation. In March 2008, the Articles of Incorporation was filed with the Secretary of State in California, where majority of the members were located. Once MSD was registered in May 2008, an executive committee and board was elected, who were assigned with the task of writing the bylaws of the newly formed corporation. The bylaws were adopted by the board in July 2008 and MSD started functioning as non profit organization focusing on designing and implementing projects that are consistent with its stated goals.
