Mukuru Promotion Centre is a faith based charity organization working in Mukuru slums. The organization is under the stewardship of the Sisters of Mercy. In the last 35 years of operation, the organization has been offering services in education, healthcare, rehabilitation services and vocational training.CURRENT PROJECTS UNDER MPCSt. Elizabeth Primary School- Lunga LungaSt. Catherine Primary School- South BSt. Bakhita Primary School- New Likoni RoadSancta Maria Mukuru Primary School- Mukuru KayabaSt. Michael Secondary School- New Likoni RoadMary Immaculate Clinic- South B. The clinic offers outpatient services to the Mukuru residents at subsidized rates.Mary Immaculate Rehabilitation Centre- South B. The centre offers rehabilitative services to boys from the streets in a year long program and after this, the boys are reintegrated back to their families and also taken to school or for internship depending on the education level or craft course undertaken during the program.Songa Mbele Na Masomo Children's Centre- South B, Aoko Road. The centre offers therapy, daycare services, and nutrition care to children living wit disability and primary education classes to former school dropouts and slow learners.Our Lady of Mercy Vocational Training Centre- New Likoni RoadAll the services offered are to the benefit of children and youth living in the Mukuru Slums and its environs. We have a social services department with social workers distributed across all the project sites. The social workers attend to the residents with various needs and give referrals where needed.The Child Protection department of the organization works with all the necessary stakeholders to ensure prevention of abuse among the projects' beneficiaries and the staff and when abuse is reported, they follow up through the stipulated reporting channels to ensure the perpetrators are brought to book.
