The Danish Museum for Paper Art, located at the North-Western coast of Jutland in Denmark. The museum opened in 2018. The founder of the museum, Karen Bit Vejle, is also the main artcutting artist. The museum preserves, displays and disseminates permanently artworks of the recognized artist. All over the world, in China, Mexico, India, Switzerland, Poland and Israel paper cutting and paper art traditions has been present even before humans could write.The museums mission is to operate an international art and cultural center for paper art, which includes a permanent art collection with works by psaligraph Bit Vejle. The museum also convey the unique Danish and Nordic paper cutting tradition. Contemporary Danish paper cut artists such as Sonja Brandes, Peter Callesen, and paper artists such as Anne Vilsbøl and Marianne Grønnow who have carried the paper art heritage further and lifted it to a high artistic level, are also represented in the museum. Art with paper as the focal point from all over the world are invited and displayed at roulating exhibitions and theme-related events. The museum is capable of two changing exhibitions per year inviting international paper artists to exhibit.The museums vision is to purposefully link highly educated individuals and expertise within paper art to the museum and collect, document, archive, and preserve Danish and Nordic paper cut art works and paper art history for posterity.
