Think of the happiest moment of your life. A moment of pure joy, pure wonder. When we asked ourselves that question a year ago, our thoughts drifted back to childhood. We thought of recess and field trips, snow cones and snow days. Our friend Steffi Lynn Tsai wasn't content with thinking about the past. She wanted to recreate it. She wanted to build a place where art and design could transport people back to their childhood—and that's just what she's done at Museum of Memories, an immersive art installation that features eight distinctly nostalgic exhibits. Each exhibit incorporates wall-length murals, rooms designed for wandering and exploring, and unforgettable art—all of which transport people to a place they thought they'd never be able to visit, the past. Steffi's always been playful, quirky, and endlessly creative—she's your friend who fills notebooks with amazing sketches, your friend who is as impractical as she is inventive. When we found out about Steffi's vision, we did everything we could to make it a reality. We're six childhood friends from Texas. Not all of us are artists, but all of us remember the strange, beautiful, magical quality of childhood (and of growing up in the 90s).
