Music and Cognition are an independent research group who specialise in examining, understanding and explaining the impact that music and the arts can have on children's development. We collaborate with teachers, schools, nurseries, charities and universities to produce high-quality informative research, whilst learning from and working closely with our partners. We seek to bring together professionals in the fields of research, teaching and learning and recognise all of our partners as active contributors to any research process.Music and cognition refers to the study of musical thinking. In basic terms, it seeks to understand the mental processes involved in listening to, creating, and performing music. Musical thinking is, however, a vast, complex issue that also implicates memory, emotion, language, culture, and the thinking body.
