Skarli Pena is a Venezuelan-born violinist who has been living in the Bay Area since 2011. She received her B.A. in Music Education with an emphasis in Youth Education in 2011 from U.P.E.L. Barquisimeto. As the daughter of the conductor of Venezuela's Youth Orchestra, she started playing violin herself at the age of five— and has never stopped. Through diligence, ambition and an unflinching dedication to her craft, she has amassed the necessary skill set to educate others, namely children, in the finer art of violin playing. In Venezuela, Ms. Pena worked with the international organization El Sistema en Venezuela, reflected in children's musical education for a number of years. Here in the US, she attended the Suzuki Core Training Seminar in Sacramento where the foundation was set in place for her to fully realize her dream of teaching children as a profession here in the United States. She is passionate about music and childhood education and is excited to undertake this endeavor of teaching kids and performing in quartets here in the Bay Area. She looks forward to giving kids in the Bay Area the same appreciation for the violin, and for classical music, that her father gave her. Fluent in both English and Spanish, she lives in Cole Valley in San Francisco, where she teaches violin lessons in English (or Spanish, if you like.!)
