Musical Bridges Music Therapy was founded in 2011 by Leslie Jones and is located in Springfield Missouri. Our mission is to provide quality music therapy services to all ages and populations and to spread the awareness of music therapy in the community. Currently providing services for Mercy Hospital Springfield (Cancer Resource Center), Drury Center for Music Therapy and Wellness, S.C.A.N.: Lebanon (Supporting Children with Additional Needs), various individual clients and adaptive music lessons for children with developmental disabilities."Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program"- American Music Therapy Association, 2010In Layman's Terms:Music therapy is provided by a board certified music therapist who uses music in a creative way to aid in the achievement of emotional, social, cognitive, and physical needs of people of all ages. The beauty is that you DO NOT have to be a musician to reap the benefits! Music therapists tailor the musical interventions to be "non-musician proof" to create a non-invasive and engaging therapeutic experience.Music therapists may hold a Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D. Board certification is required after completion of a required 6 month internship at a clinical site approved by the American Music Therapy Association.Services Available but not Limited to:-Developmental Disabilities-Skilled Nursing Facilities including Dementia Care-Neurological/Physical Rehabilitation-Addiction Recovery-Support Groups-Depression/Anxiety/Stress Management-Wellness and Integrative Programs-Hospice and Palliative Care-Team Building Experiences-Drum Circle Facilitation-Music Lessons
