The Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine is Maine's distinguished public policy school, combining an extensive applied research and technical assistance portfolio with rigorous undergraduate and graduate degree programs in geography-anthropology (GYA); tourism and hospitality (TAH); policy, planning, and management (MPPM); and public health (MPH). The Muskie School is nationally recognized for applying innovative knowledge and training students in the fields of public policy, public health, land use and urban planning, public and non-profit management, tourism and hospitality, sustainable development, cultural resource management, archaeology, anthropology, geography and geospatial technologies. The Muskie School is also home to the Cutler Institute, the research arm of the Muskie School, which employsmore than 150 experienced staff that help organizations and communities thrive in a changing world bytranslating knowledge and best practices into sustainable solutions that are responsive to societal needs andfocused on both short-term and long-term outcomes. The primary focus areas of the Cutler Institute are children, youth, and families; disability and aging; economic and workforce development; environmental and social resilience; justice policy; and population health and health policy. The Cutler Institute has a far-reaching local, national, and global impact – working with hundreds of state and non-profits; collaborating with over 200 Native American tribes; providing training, research, and technical assistance in all 50 states and Washington, DC; consulting in foreign countries; and partnering with over 75 public and private funders.
