Consumer Electronics - Stockholm, Stockholm County, Sweden
Mutewatch was founded in Stockholm in 2008 by a group of young entrepreneurs - Mai-Li Hammargren, Oscar Ritzén Praglowski and Gustav Hammargren. The idea behind Mutewatch came about during a business idea competition at SSE (Stockholm School of Economics). The first product images were released on the 5th of August 2010 and within 24 hours Engadget, Gizmodo and many others had published the news. Traffic streamed to the website and preorders helped the founders to put the product into production. Mutewatch was launched on the 7th of July 2011 during Berlin Fashion Week and the concept store Colette in Paris had the world exclusivity for the first 2 months before the product was shipped to premium stores worldwide such as Club21 in Singapore, Lane Crawford in Hongkong, MoMA in New York, Maxfield in LA, and Selfridges in London. Karl Lagerfeld and Steve Wozniak were among the first customers and Steve Wozniak referred to Mutewatch as "a masterpiece of combining material in ways I've never before seen. Very Creative and unique" in an interview to CNET December 2011.
