Mutts and Runts Rescue was formed by Brandi Reed to help with several important causes dear to her heart. Currently, Kern County has an epidemic of stray animals caused by careless backyard breeders and people who shop and do not adopt. These breeders cause a chain reaction to the amount of stray animals that Kern County has. What happens to these puppies that are bred by illegal backyard breeding are A. the puppies aren't sold or sold to good families and then tossed to the streets and B. The puppies are sold, but, the person(s) Purchasing these puppies cannot afford to spay or neuter due to high vet fees, then causing the dog to become pregnant or impregnate another stray dog and therefore creating 8 or more puppies that rescues or city shelters have to help. These stray animals become sick, injured or attacked by other dogs. Most people are to afraid or cannot afford to take care of medical costs on these stray animals that are seen in the streets every second of the day. Mutts and Runts would like to raise funds for these emergency medical treatments. When Brandi attempted her first rescue with a black pitbull puppy that had a broken leg, it was very difficult for her to obtain help and guidance on getting this puppy treatment. Most rescues she reached out to did not want to assist. Brandi ended up raising the funds on her own to pay for Ryder's surgery, but, without guidance, the surgery was unsuccessful, then Brandi received help from a non-local rescue who still continues to guide her. Because of her experience, she has decided to become a fundraiser for independent rescuers and assist them with helping more dogs, rather than building a rescue herself where there are limitations. How will she do this? By donating funds for kennels, food, supplies, and medical treatments. Brandi wants to make an impact and helping independent rescuers, the ones that take the dogs off the streets, the ones that go out looking night and day for lost dogs, or spending countless hours trying to catch dogs to get them off the streets, those independent rescuers are vital to our community, and they need help. This in turn will automatically help established rescues obtain more fosters, bigger connections and increase unity. Funds donated here will go to a variety of you see above. Mutts and Runts does have 2-3 animals at a time and those animals will have their own separate page for donating. Thank you for your support and compassion.
