This feels like the great awakening. Finally, the world 'gets' climate change, and the existential threat it poses. All around us, people are resolving to do whatever they can to help slow and preferably reverse it. Business and technology are huge parts of the solution. ‘Climate tech' startups are cropping up everywhere we look. It's testament to us humans' incredible ability to innovate. The sad fact, however, is that many of their innovations will never see the light of day owing to one simple shortcoming. Their founders are not able to articulate their ideas to those who have the power to make them a reality: investors. My Climate Story was conceived to address this problem. It does so by leveraging the millennia-old human tradition of storytelling. Every one of us is wired for stories. It's how we learn as infants and youths, and it's how we impart our wisdom as adults and elders. Through storytelling, we can make ourselves understood. And through fostering understanding, we bring others into our fold. The good news is that we all have a veritable armoury of stories within us, whether we realise it or not.We offer our clients a blend of creative and coaching services. In the short term, startup founders tend to need a quick lift to get them noticed by investors. So we use our photography and writing skills to craft stories for them to deploy across a variety of channels. This way, they can get their foot in the door to the money room. Coaching is our long term solution. We work one-to-one with founders to help them learn how to access their personal storytelling toolboxes. This way, they can nail pitches, thrive on the TED stage and confidently answer interview questions, all in a language that non-technical audiences can instantly understand. Those who master the art quickly realise that as a founder, 90% of their job is storytelling.
