Muslim Youth Seeking Knowledge (M.Y.S.K) is a community of young individuals bounded by the common purpose of attaining beneficial knowledge relevant for our daily lives.We provide spaces where the Muslim youth of Melbourne find comfort and support, and serve as a platform for dialogues and discussions about living as young Muslims in Australia.Established on April 16th, 2011 by a group of 20 Indonesian teenagers, we have grown to over 300 members from numerous cultures and backgrounds. We have achieved this from heavy promotion of our high-quality events through social media and word-of- mouth. Our members consist of a diversity of studies, schools and experience, providing a network for mentorship and peer support.MYSK organises monthly knowledge-based gatherings for it members. Speakers and presenters in these events have included university academics, members of parliament, school principals, qualified religious instructors, journalists, lawyers and others. Topics and themes for gatherings are chosen by the MYSK community based on interest, needs, andrelevance.Gatherings are held in the inner-north, south-eastern and western suburbs of Melbourne to cater for the full breadth of its members.We aim to expand our reach to other cities in Australia and eventually internationally. We are striving to form links with other Islamic societies and youth projects for mutual sharing of resources, ideas, and benefit.
