Civic & Social Organization - Manchester, England, United Kingdom
Working in partnership with local schools, Greater Manchester Police, Manchester City Council, and other partners, we provide targeted approaches to educational and social exclusion. We have three programmes that work alongside a school's curriculum, each with a different goal:-The Elevate programme helps young people achieve their full potential, develop their skills, and grow in confidence by educating them on subjects like drugs, racism, citizenship, prison awareness, and gangs. -The Inspire program promotes a positive self-image in young people, helping them raise their self-esteem and confidence. We aim to give them the right perspective of who they are, and allow them to see what they can achieve.-The Beats is an enterprise challenge, where those involved will work together as a team to produce an album using computers and music software. The project harnesses the pupils' creative talent while working as an educational tool to help develop new skills. Outside of the curriculum, N-Gage has set up a youth centre in Burnage with a music room, art room, games area, and café. The café is a welcoming, cost-effective location for adults and youth alike to socialise and eat, and aims to promote a sense of community within the local area. As well as this, we have two converted trucks acting as mobile youth centres that travel to communities where there is little to no youth provision. We don't think the younger generations should leave school without the means to make the most of life. We want to lift young people up so they can realise their full potential, and find the self-worth, self-confidence, and self-respect within themselves.
