Naatya Seva, Academy of Indian Classical Dance is dedicated to the preservation and propagation of Bharathanaatyam. While "Naatya" loosely translated means dance, "Seva" means service; thus Naatya Seva's mission is twofold: 1) service to dance, 2) service through dance. That is, to serve the art through practice, study and exploration and to enrich and serve the community through performances and demonstrations.Naatya Seva provides a stimulating, supportive and multi-cultural environment in which to explore the physical, intellectual and spiritual benefits of Bharathanaatyam as a student, professional practitioner or curious observer. Our goal is to train future generations in the ancient art form of Bharathanaatyam and Indian Culture as well as produce traditional, innovative and collaborative works in the Bharathanaatyam style. We also increase awareness of Bharathanaatyam through building community support at local, national and international levels.Naatya Seva is modeled after Alma Maters Bharata Kalanjali, Premier Academy of Indian Classical Dance, Music & Allied Arts in Chennai, India and Naatya, Academy of Indian Classical Dance in San Diego, California. Naatya Seva prides itself on its uncompromising quality as it strives to preserve the traditions as they have been passed down from generation to generation, from Guru to Sishya. Naatya Seva is currently in the process of receiving its 501(c)(3) nonprofit license.
