Nalanda West (NW) is an event center for contemplative arts and meditation offering a curated selection of teachings and presenters from diverse wisdom traditions relatable to the modern individual. NW was founded in 2004 by Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche is run by and serves as the headquarters for the Nalandabodhi community – a network of international Buddhist study and practice centers under Rinpoche's direction. Over 1000 years ago at the historic Nalanda University in Bihar, India, studies were organized according to the Five Sciences, or Five Fields of Knowledge. Like Nalanda University, NW is committed to exploring these Five Fields, each one a different window through which we can contemplate our relationship with ourselves, with others, and with the world. Every program at NW is inspired by a passion for awakening mindfulness and awareness through the Five Fields of Knowledge. These Five Fields are: Creativity & the Arts, Health & Wellness, Communication, Knowing & Reasoning and Inner Science of Mind. The underlying values of programs offered at NW include interdependence, compassionate action, mindfulness and awareness. We offer an inviting, peaceful space and the opportunity to engage in being present in mind and body within busy, demanding lives and ever-present technological distractions. We also have three beautiful spaces to rent to non-profits that fit within our mission.
