Sports - Nambour, Queensland, Australia
Nambour Little Athletics has a proud history of athletics excellence. We are a volunteer-based, not-for-profit association established to promote athletics and conduct athletic meetings in the Nambour district. From very humble beginnings at the Nambour State Primary School, the centre commenced its first season in December 1983 with a handful of athletes. The club now enjoys a membership of just under 100 little athletes. As member numbers grew, the centre moved to the present PCYC (Police Citizens Youth Club) grounds in 1986. This move and the magnificent efforts of the Centre's parents have seen the venue develop into one of the finest Little Athletics grounds in country Queensland. Our club falls within the SunCoast Region for Little Athletics enjoying friendly competition with our neighbouring clubs at Regional Relays and Regional Championships. These clubs include Deception Bay, Caboolture, Wamuran, Nanango, Glasshouse, Maleny, Caloundra, University, Maroochy, Bli Bli, South Burnett, Noosa, Gympie and Cooloola Coast. Nambour along with our neighbours in Maroochy and Bli Bli have enjoyed a close collaboration for many years. This includes a ‘Tri-Centre' competition arrangement where each centre hosts an open competition day for centre athletes. Our club is managed by a volunteer based Committee of Management who freely give their time. The centre could not operate without the generous service of its volunteers, many of whom have been involved with the sport of athletics and Nambour Little Athletics for decades.
