Natchitoches is the oldest settlement in the Louisiana Purchase and was founded by the French in 1714. We are located in NWLA and have a population of just under 20,000. Natchitoches is home to Northwestern State University, the Cane River National Heritage Area, a National Historic Landmark District, the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum and many, many other great attractions. Our local industry is primarily Healthcare, Education and Manufacturing. The Natchitoches Area Chamber supports the entire parish and represents over 400 member businesses and just over 9,000 employees throughout Natchitoches Parish.
